The Study of Land Use Pattern in Tidal Lowland Reclamations of Telang II Deltaic Areas of Banyuasin Regency

Since 1981 the tidal lowland of Telang II deltaic area had reclaimed. It is about 13.800 hectares of the areas has potentially for agriculture. Currently the area has high pressure to change the land use for food to estate crop. Therefore need to do research on the study of farming systems to see agricultural production in tidal lowland. Most of the land in the Delta Telang II planted with oil palm , rice and corn , especially in the village of Sukatani , Sukadamai Village and Village Mulyasari. The purpose of this study was to analyse and present data and information on potential farming systems in Delta Telang II. The research was conducted in tidal lowland reclamation areas of Delta Telang II Desa Mulyasari, Desa Sukatani, and Desa Sukadamai, Sub District Tanjung Lago, District Banyuasin, Province South Sumatra. The method used in this study is a survey method. The results of this research showed that the more profitable land use when the area has two time crop (Index cropping 200%). Farmer cultivates corn and rice get more income than oil palm. Therefore the recommendation of land use pattern in the area study is rice-corn. Corn was suitable planted in June and rice planted at October or November.
